Eco Friendly Nappies
The Eco by Naty nappies are the most sustainable way to use single-use nappies. They are super absorbent, while being mostly made of vegetable fibers, having 0% oil-based plastics in contact with the skin your baby and no nasty chemicals at all. So you won't have to worry about skin irritations!Â
The ingredients outside the diaper per section are the following:
- Inner non woven, sides protecting from leakage, frontal ear and elastic ears covering: Plant-based PE non woven.
- Back Sheet: Plant-based PE non woven and breathable barrier from plant-based PE.
- Frontal tape: PE non woven.
- Tape: PP.
The ingredients inside the diaper are the following:
- Absorbents: FSC and totally chlorine-free certified cellulose and SAP super absorbent.
- High loft: PP and PET.
- Elastic leg: elastomer covered by plant-based PE non-woven.
- Glue: save and approved, based on SBS and SEBS
Cellulose is used where possible inside the diaper.
Composition abbreviations:
PE: Polyethylene.
PET: Polyethylene Terephthalate.
PP: Polypropylene.
SBS: Styrene Butadiene Styrene.
SEBS: Styrene Ethylene Butadiene Styrene.
1. Unfasten the diaper/nappy tabs and fasten them back on themselves so they don’t stick to your baby, but don’t remove the dirty diaper/nappy yet.
2. Wipe away any solids with the diaper/nappy, taking care to cover the penis with a clean cloth or diaper/nappy if your baby is a boy (for sanitary reasons and to avoid an unexpected warm shower).
3. Lift the baby’s bottom off the table using an ungainly, yet effective, ankle hold.
4. Fold the dirty diaper/nappy in half under the baby.
5. Using an Eco by Naty wipe or wet cotton wool, clean your baby’s front thoroughly. For a girl, always wipe from front to back.
6. Lift both of your baby’s legs and clean the bottom.
7. Swap a clean diaper/nappy for the dirty one. The clean diaper's/nappy’s top half (the half with the tabs) should go under your baby’s rear, and the front half should come up between the legs (which should be spread as widely as is comfortable for your baby). Try not to bunch the diaper/nappy between your baby’s legs as it can cause chafing and discomfort. For newborns, avoid covering the umbilical cord. For boys, tuck the penis down so moisture will be less likely to escape.
8. Fasten the diaper/nappy at both sides with the tapes, making sure it’s snug, but not so tight that it pinches the skin.
9. Wrap the soiled diaper/nappy around the contents, put it in a disposal bag, and pop it in the bin. Dress your baby, and wash your hands thoroughly. That’s it, you’re done!
The average baby uses around 7.000 nappies in a lifetime. Although these nappies are not completely plastic-free, they are the best eco-friendly alternative to common single-use nappies, which are mainly composed by oil-based non woven PE.
